Tradovate Export Guide
Export Tradovate futures trades for Journalit from Reports → Orders as CSV. This guide shows the correct export path and avoids the incompatible Performance report.
Bottom line
Use the Orders tab inside Tradovate Reports. The
Performance tab export is not compatible with Journalit's CSV import.
Overview
Fast export
Tradovate can produce the file in a few clicks once you are in the correct report view.
Orders tab only
The importer expects the structure exported from Orders, not the alternative report layouts.
Date range matters
If trades appear to be missing, the selected range or account is usually the reason.
Commission caveat
Tradovate's Orders export may not include commission values, so blank commission fields can be expected.
What Journalit expects
Most common mistake
If the CSV will not import, or the columns look wrong, you almost certainly exported
from Performance instead of Orders.
Export trades from Tradovate
Open Reports
Sign in to the Tradovate trading platform and open Reports from the main navigation.
Switch to Orders
Inside Reports, select the Orders tab.
Do not use Performance. It exports a different structure that does not match Journalit's importer.
Choose the right history window
Set the date range you want to export. If you use multiple accounts or filters, double-check that the report is showing the exact trades you want before downloading the file.
Download the CSV
Click Download CSV and save the file to your computer.
Import the original file
Upload the downloaded CSV into Journalit without editing it first. If you open it in a spreadsheet tool, avoid resaving it unless you are deliberately troubleshooting formatting issues.
Quick validation before import
Correct source
You exported from Reports → Orders, not Performance.
Trades visible first
The report showed the expected trades on screen before you clicked Download CSV.
Right account
If you use more than one Tradovate account, confirm the export came from the correct one.
Commission blanks are acceptable
Do not treat missing commission values as an automatic export failure. That can be normal for this report.
