Why We Built This
Every trading journal we tried had the same problem: your data was theirs. Monthly subscriptions to access your own trades. Platform shutdowns that take your history with them.

Is Journalit really free?
Yes! Journalit is completely free with unlimited trades, accounts, custom fields, and analytics. All features work offline in your Obsidian vault. The Pro subscription ($18/month or $15/month yearly) adds automatic MetaTrader 4/5 sync and CSV imports for any broker.
Where is my trading data stored?
Your data lives 100% locally in your Obsidian vault as markdown files. It never leaves your device unless you enable MT4/MT5 sync. Even then, only trade reports are sent to our servers for parsing. Your manual trades, notes, and analysis stay completely local. You own your data forever.
Can I use Journalit offline?
Absolutely! Journalit is local-first and works completely offline. You can create trades, write notes, view analytics, and customise your journal without an internet connection. Only the MT4/MT5 auto-sync feature requires connectivity. Everything else runs on your device.
Which brokers and platforms are supported?
The Pro tier includes MetaTrader 4/5 automatic sync and CSV imports for any broker (stocks, forex, crypto, futures, options). You can also manually add trades from any platform using the free tier. We're actively working on more direct broker integrations. Vote for your broker on our Discord!
Do I need to know how to code?
Not at all! Journalit is designed for traders, not developers. Everything is point-and-click with an intuitive interface built right into Obsidian. If you can use Obsidian, you can use Journalit. No coding, no command line, no technical setup required.
