Prop firm trading journalthat knows your rules

Track your firm's rules from the trades you record, then use your own reviews to work out why an account failed. Free, and runs in Obsidian on your device.

Which rule broke, then why

Your firm's dashboard tells you which rule you broke. Journalit tracks the same rules from your trades and keeps your trade reviews in the same journal, so you can work out why.

1

See which rule broke

Every rule is tracked from the trades you record, so you see the breach the moment it happens.

Trading Combine marked failed, with the end-of-day drawdown past its limit and the other rules still in progress
2

Find out why

Review that day's trades. What you wrote about each one, from your setup to what pulled you in, is what explains the loss.

Rules tracked from your trades

Set your challenge up once, or apply your firm's profile on Pro. Every trade you record or import updates each rule.

What Journalit can't see
  • The firm is the authority. Its dashboard and help centre decide whether an account has passed, breached or qualified for a payout.
  • Journalit tracks rules from the trades recorded in your journal. It does not see your broker's tick-by-tick equity, so it cannot detect a breach that happened on unrealised profit or loss inside a trade, and an intraday trailing floor is modelled from recorded trade results.
  • Journalit shows where you stand. It does not connect to the firm's risk system, place or block orders, or prevent a breach.
  • Conditions a firm decides at its discretion, or that the profile does not model, stay marked as unknown rather than counted as met.

Can you take a payout?

Two separate answers: what your firm's policy allows, and how much room the payout leaves above your drawdown floor.

Is prop trading paying?

Evaluation fees next to your payouts, so the answer is a number.

Questions

Yes. You can create prop challenges with your own phases, rules and payout policies, record payouts and costs, and see rule progress, Challenge Alerts and Eval ROI on the free plan. Pro adds maintained firm profiles that fill in a challenge for you, notices when a linked firm profile changes, and Trade Import and automatic trade sync.

No. Obsidian is a free notes app for desktop and mobile, and Journalit installs from its Community Plugins directory. An onboarding wizard creates your first trading account, so you do not need an existing Obsidian setup or any prior knowledge of it. Your journal stays on your device.

Any firm can be tracked by entering its rules yourself. For the firms listed on the prop firm rules reference, Journalit also maintains profiles with each programme, account size, rule and payout policy, which Pro users can apply in one step.

No. Journalit shows where you stand against each rule from the trades recorded in your journal, and warns you when a rule is close to its limit. It does not connect to the firm's risk system or block orders, and it cannot see unrealised profit or loss inside a trade, so an intraday trailing drawdown is modelled from recorded trade results. The firm's dashboard is the authority.

A funded phase can carry the firm's payout policy. Journalit shows each requirement and whether it is met, the amount the policy allows, and what a request would do to your balance, drawdown floor and room before a breach. Those are shown separately, because a request the policy allows can still leave very little room. Recorded payouts feed your challenge economics.

Yes. Every challenge has its own phases, rules and linked broker accounts. The Challenges view groups them by stage, shows the action each one needs next, and totals costs, payouts, pass rates and Eval ROI across them.
