Your trade history stays on your computer

TopstepX activity becomes trade notes stored as plain files on your device, inside Obsidian, the free note-taking app Journalit runs on. Your thesis, tags, screenshots, reviews, and custom fields are never replaced by broker updates.

Before you import TopstepX trades

No. TopstepX support is file import: export the CSV from the Orders or Trades tab and import the original file into Journalit.

Select the correct account first, open the Orders or Trades tab at the bottom of TopstepX, click Export, choose the date range, and download the CSV. Do not rename columns or clean the file in a spreadsheet before importing.

Use Manual Mapping as the fallback. The adapter depends on your plugin version, and TopstepX may change export columns over time; a fresh export is the first troubleshooting step.

Yes. The export covers whichever TopstepX account you select before exporting, so practice and funded accounts are journalled the same way.

Yes. Journalit runs inside Obsidian, a free note-taking app for Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, and Android. That is what keeps your journal as plain files on your own device instead of rows in our database. If you have never used Obsidian, setup takes a few minutes: install the free app, then add the Journalit plugin.
