Rithmic Trade Sync

Rithmic Trade Sync connects the Rithmic system your prop firm or broker gave you to Journalit, so your futures fills reach your journal without a manual export. You create the connection on Journalit.co with your Rithmic username and password, and Journalit keeps synchronising from then on.

Use this guide for automatic synchronisation

If you only want a one-off file import, use the Rithmic Trade History Export Guide instead. File import and Trade Sync are separate workflows.

Before you begin

Journalit Pro

Rithmic Trade Sync is a Pro feature. Connection management stays available on your account while the entitlement is active.

Rithmic credentials

You need the Rithmic system name, username, and password issued by your prop firm or broker.

Signed Rithmic agreements

Log in to R|Trader or R|Trader Pro once and sign the agreements Rithmic shows. Rithmic blocks application logins until this is done.

Vault accounts

You can map synchronised accounts to existing local accounts or create suitable accounts in the plugin.

Sign the Rithmic agreements first

Rithmic requires each user to accept its agreements inside R|Trader or R|Trader Pro before any other application may sign in. If Journalit reports that agreements are required, log in to R|Trader once, accept everything it presents, then retry the connection.

Connect Rithmic

Credential entry, updates, and deletion all live on Journalit.co. The Obsidian plugin never asks for your Rithmic password.

Open Integrations on Journalit.co

Sign in to Journalit.co and open Dashboard → Integrations. Select the Rithmic tab when another broker is available too, then choose Connect Rithmic.

Choose your Rithmic system

Pick your system from the list Journalit loads from Rithmic. Prop firms and brokers each use their own system, so choose the one that matches the login you use in R|Trader.

Enter your Rithmic username and password

Enter the credentials for that system. Journalit sends them to its backend, which signs in to Rithmic to verify them before storing them encrypted. The password is not persisted to browser storage, caches, or URLs, and is cleared from the form as soon as the request finishes.

Confirm the connection

When Rithmic accepts the login, the connection card appears with its status, detected accounts, and sync timestamps. If Rithmic rejects the login, the card explains what to fix and you can retry immediately.

Choose the accounts for this vault

Choose which Rithmic accounts belong in the current vault and map each one to a local Journalit account in the Obsidian plugin. Trades do not land in the vault until that mapping is done. Follow Choose the accounts for this vault in the Trade Sync overview.

How syncing works

Periodic synchronisation

Journalit checks Rithmic on a schedule once the connection is active, so trades keep arriving without any action from you.

Sync now

Use Sync now on the connection card when you want an immediate update rather than waiting for the next scheduled run.

Current-day trades

Trades from the current session arrive with the next sync, so today's activity reaches your journal the same day.

Settled history backfills

Rithmic settles history after the session. Journalit backfills those settled trades afterwards, which is why an entry can gain final detail later.

One Rithmic session at a time

Rithmic allows one active session per account. If your trading platform, such as R|Trader or NinjaTrader, is signed in, Journalit cannot log in at the same moment. Journalit waits and retries on its normal schedule, so trades from that session still arrive once your platform disconnects. Nothing needs fixing in Journalit when you see this: close or disconnect the platform when you finish trading, or simply wait for the next sync.

Rithmic does not supply commissions or fees

Rithmic's trade data does not include commissions or exchange fees. Configure instrument cost rules in Journalit settings so those costs can be applied when the synced commission is empty or zero. Rules can be per-side or round-trip, and optionally scoped to specific accounts. See Instrument cost rules.

Manage the connection

Return to Dashboard → Integrations and open the Rithmic tab for the full lifecycle. Every action applies only to the card where it is started.

Sync now

Request an immediate synchronisation for one connection.

Refresh status

Reload the connection status, detected accounts, and sync timestamps.

Update credentials

Replace the stored username and password after a password change or reset. Journalit verifies the new credentials with Rithmic before saving them.

Disconnect

Stop synchronisation and permanently delete the stored Rithmic credentials. Existing cloud trades and Obsidian notes are preserved.

Disconnecting deletes your stored credentials

Disconnect removes the encrypted Rithmic username and password from Journalit. Your synchronised trades and journal notes stay exactly where they are. To reconnect later, enter your credentials again.
